Our Story

Over Six Decades of
Shaping Young Men

"A school is not merely a building. It is a tradition — and SAHARCO's tradition is one of truth, excellence, and service."

Sacred Heart College Eziukwu Aba — fondly known as SAHARCO — was established in 1957 by the Catholic Diocese of Aba. From the outset, the school was conceived as more than an academic institution; it was to be a place where boys from across Abia State and beyond would be formed in character, faith, and intellectual excellence.

The school takes its name and inspiration from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion central to the Catholic tradition that emphasises love, compassion, and self-giving service. This spirituality has animated SAHARCO's approach to education for over six decades.

Today, SAHARCO stands as one of the foremost secondary schools in Abia State, with a distinguished alumni network spanning academia, business, medicine, law, the church, and public service — men whose lives bear witness to the school's motto: Testimonium Perhibere Veritati.

Bishop's Message

A Word from Our
Bishop & Proprietor

"Education is not merely the transmission of knowledge — it is the formation of conscience, the lighting of a flame that no darkness can extinguish."

Sacred Heart College Eziukwu Aba stands as one of the finest expressions of the Catholic Diocese of Aba's commitment to the integral formation of young men. Since 1957, this institution has been a place where faith and reason, discipline and creativity, tradition and aspiration are held together in fruitful tension.

I encourage every student, parent, teacher, and alumnus to remain steadfast in the values that define SAHARCO: truth, integrity, service, and love of God. May every young man who passes through these gates go forth to bear witness to the truth in every arena of life — in the home, the workplace, the Church, and the public square.

To the students: study hard, pray faithfully, and treat one another with the respect due to sons of the Sacred Heart. You carry not only the name of this school — you carry its honour.

School Motto

"Testimonium Perhibere Veritati"

A Latin phrase meaning To Bear Witness to the Truth. Drawn from the Gospel of John (18:37), these words were spoken by Christ before Pilate — a reminder that every SAHARCO man is called to stand for truth at all costs, in all circumstances.

🎨 School Colours

SAHARCO's official colours are Maroon and Gold — colours of dignity, faith, and excellence. Maroon symbolises the Sacred Heart and the courage to stand firm; Gold represents the pursuit of excellence and the light of truth.
